I had been taking mission teams from New Zealand into Mexico for six years when the opportunity arose in 2016 to accompany Lalo and his team into the prisons.
I had no idea what to expect, but found, from that first visit the sense of privilege in being able to share with these ones, some confined for many years, the love of Jesus through prayer and sharing the gospel, as well as the practical gifts of food and hygiene kits.
The prison visits have now become a highlight of our ministry trips into Mexico and I had the added privilege in 2023 to travel to El Salvador with Lalo and his team, working with a prison ministry there.
To go to these precious souls, is both a joy and at the same time heart breaking, but the sense of knowing I am where God wants me to be and the love that He gives me for each person I have the privilege of ministering to, is my testimony of why I go. If I can share Jesus’s love to even just one, it’s so worth the journey.
